Located on the LACMA campus at Wilshire and Fairfax, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is world class museum and interactive space dedicated to all aspects of film. Located in the renovated historic May Company building at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles’ Museum District, the project includes four class A galleries, two small theaters, offices, catering facilities, and a fifth floor dining and event space with panoramic views of Los Angeles.
The museum’s centerpiece is the 1,000 seat Geffen Theatre, designed to be a world premier cinema and enclosed in a spherical concrete and glass container. Capable of live broadcasting with variable acoustics, the Geffen Theatre has the capability to host a variety of televised or simulcast events. Atop the theater is another fifth floor event space. Located under a glass dome with majestic views of the mountains to the north, this is one of the most sought after venues in Los Angeles for events, receptions and private parties.
